President & Founder

James is a serial founder with a track record of building and exiting two international technology companies, Sky-Futures and Inspection2, that pioneered the use of drones, AI, and data in industrial inspections. With a sustainability and development degree and 15+ years’ experience at the intersection of AI, geospatial intelligence, and climate innovation, he has led global teams, raised venture capital, and delivered commercialisation of cutting-edge technology across more than 30 countries.

At Blue Coast Carbon, James combines his background in data-driven strategy, remote sensing, and early-stage venture building with his passion for climate action. His work focuses on creating high-integrity blue carbon credits, scaling protection and restoration of mangrove ecosystems, and enabling private capital to confidently invest in the future of ocean and coastal resilience.

Marine Science Expert 

Federica is a marine scientist with a PhD in Ecology from the University of Western Sydney, and 15+ years of international research experience across Europe and Australia. She has managed and delivered EU and ESA-funded projects in ocean technology and satellite-based monitoring, with a track record in aquaculture, marine biodiversity, and operational oceanography. Federica’s expertise bridges scientific research, data analysis, and project management, with published work in Soil Biology & Biochemistry, PLoS ONE, and Marine Pollution Bulletin. At Blue Coast Carbon, she drives the integration of satellite and field data into blue carbon project development, ensuring robust science underpins our climate and community outcomes.

Data Science Expert 

Thomas is a data scientist and engineer with a PhD in Information & Communication Technology. He has over a decade of experience applying AI, computer vision, and remote sensing to environmental monitoring, with research spanning UAV, satellite, and fixed-camera imagery. His work at Zeitview, Inspection2, and Sky-Futures advanced the use of machine learning for image analysis at scale, including structural monitoring and environmental assessment. Author of multiple IEEE publications and recipient of an IEEE Best Reviewer award, Thomas leads the development of fast, verifiable AI pipelines that underpin Blue Coast Carbon’s monitoring and verification systems.
